Thomas Mapfumo Lands In South Africa For Shows But Is He Coming To Zim?

Legendary artist Thomas Mapfumo is landed in South Africa yesterday where he is expected to perform two shows, one in Newtown Johannesburg and the other in Cape Town.

The 70 year old artist gave a statement at the O.R Tambo Airport asking his fans to join him where he’ll be performing some of his greatest songs.

The question is, will Thomas Mapfumo visit Zimbabwe after his two shows in South Africa? Whist we might not have the answer to that one thing was clear, Mukanya is always repping his country as he was seen with a Zimbabwean flag around his neck.

Mapfumo revealed in an interview few months back when he turned seventy that it was his wish to have celebrated his seventieth birthday in his country of origin (read that story here). 

“It would have been my wish to celebrate these seventy years of life in my country of birth, Zimbabwe reconnecting with our legion of fans we have starved off live performances for close to a decade”, he said.

Mapfumo said his heart will forever be in Zimbabwe and he hoped to return home soon, hopefully for his fans soon is now.
