Kwesé TV Partners With Netflix

After the recent suspension of operations for Kwesé TV in Zimbabwe, the pay television service partnered with Netflix. Kwese TV launched in South Africa on Thursday and will be offering a service known as Kwese Play which allows viewers to stream Netflix. As part of the package, Netflix will come with 100 other streaming channels starting from about R129.

South African viewers will be able to select only the channels they want to watch and pay only for these. They will be paying in rands, however, will not be able to pay using credit and debit cards.

Back at home, the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe appeal to the Supreme Court, Kwesé TV decided to suspend operations while waiting for the court’s decision.

Kwesé TV had been given a go-ahead by High Court judge Justice Charles Hungwe two weeks ago to broadcast in Zimbabwe. BAZ lawyers then filed a notice of appeal at the Supreme Court. According to BAZ,  the High Court had no mandate to preside over the Kwesé TV case.
