Mobile Data Charges Reduced

Minister of Information Communication Technology and Cyber Security, Supa Mandiwanzira announced a reduction in the prices of mobile data. This includes out-of-bundle mobile data, USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) and national interconnection rates. The new rates will be with effect from the 1st of July 2018. Addressing the media at The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) the minister said

The Out of bundle mobile data charges threshold shall be reduced from the current 12.5 cents per Megabyte to 5 cents per Megabyte exclusive to of all taxes. This applies to internet/data that is used outside the WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter bundles among others.

The threshold for USSD was capped to a maximum of 5c per session from the current 12.5c per session while national interconnection rates were reduced to 2c per minute from the current 4c per minute.
