Warriors assemble for camp
Zimbabwe national soccer team players on Monday trickled into camp as the warriors prepare to take part at the 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations to be held in Egypt. On Monday players trickled into camp with Zimbabwe’s foreign based talent which includes Alec Mudimu and Tinotenda Kadewere, arrived in the country ahead of the commencement of training on Tuesday.
Before taking part at Afcon the warriors will compete at the Cosafa castle cup tournament where Zimbabwe will begin at the quarter final stage by virtue of being the defendibg champions. The Warriors head coach Sunday Chidzambwa will be looking to capitalise on the regional showpiece to prepare his side for Afcon proper.
As a build up to Afcon Zimbabwe are set to also fave Nigeria. Efforts to engage Morocco appear to have not yielded fruit leaving Chidzambwa with Cosafa and the Nigeria encounter as the preparation platforms for Mhofu.
Zimbabwe will be taking part at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations for the 4th time in the country’s footballing history. Zimbabwe is yet to get past the group phase of the competition and Sunday Chidzambwa is hoping his charges will this time progress to the knockout phase of the competition. While there are a number of Afcon returnees, the likes of Alec Mudimu and Tendayi Darikwa will be participating at Africa’s biggest football showpiece for the first time.
