Former VP Mphoko faces arrest.
The former vice president of Zimbabwe P. Mphoko must be feeling the heat as he as just been summoned to appear at the ZACC offices in Bulawayo. He is alleged to have been involved in corrupt activities when he was still second in command to ousted president Robert Mugabe.
It is alleged that Mphoko was summoned to appear before ZACC officials in Bulawayo early today but he did not pitch up. He sent his lawyers instead. He was however ordered to appear personally and this publication has it on goo authority that he is on his way to the ZACC officers.
ZACC has been on a !assid crackdown of those alleged to have been dealing in corrupt activities in Zimbabwe. This comes after the ZANU PF youth league named and shamed some bigwigs whom they claimed were heavily corrupt. The whip has already descended uponformer minister of Tourism and hospitality Prisca Mupfumira who is currently in custody.
The new ZACC chairperson Justice Loice Matanda Moyo has been putting emphasis on the fact that her organization will not hesitate to come after those dealing corruptly. She said that the system of catch and release which can was being done prior to her appointment has come to a halt.
Last week Mphoko evaded giving an official statement to the police after being implicated in corruption charges. Zimbabwe eagerly awaits the outcome of the ZACC encounter.
