This is the hero that Selmor Mtukudzi celebrated on heroes day
As most people remember the liberation war heroes during this heroes holiday, one celebrity had her own special person to remember. Selmor Mtukudzi said she is celebrating her very own fallen hero, her father. The daughter of the late music icon Oliver Mtukudzi took to social media to celebrate her father. She shared a throwback picture of the late musician which was taken in 1969 when he was only 17 years old. She wrote,” I choose to celebrate this hero today. Continue to rest in peace dad”.
Selmor, who bears a striking resemblance to her late father, has been following in her father’s footsteps. She has been working hand in glove with his band members and the group has been releasing great music. Oliver’s talent clearly rubbed off on his daughter.
Selmor has always been acknowledged as a great musician. She has released songs such as Hangasa and Nguva yangu.
The singer also paid tribute to her father following his death by releasing a song in his memory. The song is titled “Mandidzimbira”. The emotional lyrics and touching video revealed the bond that existed between Selmor and her father.
The singer is clearly celebrating heroes day with a difference this year as she reminisces on past experiences with her late father. She also wrote that he is forever loved in her touching tribute
Oliver Mtukudzi was a great pioneer of Afro jazz music. His talent made him famous the world over and he had the privilege to perform at grand stages. He also collaborated with various artists from all over the world including High Masekela and Ringo from South Africa. He was indeed a music icon whose legacy will last for ages. He died of diabetes
