Malajila hits hard times
Cuthbert Malajila, former Dynamos and Highlanders player is reported to have hit hard times. The once high earning soccer star has no club at the moment and is living from hand to mouth. He has been stranded at home for the past 8 months and this has taken its toll on his finances. His two year contract with Black Leopards was terminated barely six months after it was signed. As if fate had it, Malajila has been struggling to secure any deals with clubs in South Africa where he is lodged. He confirmed that he was not given a chance to play at the club but refused to disclose the reasons for the termination of his contract in January.
Malajila also failed to land a contract at Bloemfontein Celtic in 2019. He alleged that he got injured on the first day of training at the club and had to go back to Johannesburg. The football star also claimed that he was released by Sundowns after 5 seasons and they also made a decision not to give him a contract because of an injury sustained when he was at Bidvest where they had loaned him. The soccer star was injured for 8 months. In spite of having such great talent, the star has not been very fortunate with landing stable contracts
At the peak of his career Malajila played for Tunisian clubs Al-Akhadah and Al-Africain where his transfer fees were over US 200 000. His transfer at Maritzburg United and Sundowns were over US 400 000. Some soccer lovers have said they feel empathy for the football star. The current covid 19 pandemic and the subsequent disruption in normal gaming activity have indeed dealt a major blow to his career
