Stephen Alimenda urges Dynamos supporters to emulate Bosso fans
Former Dynamos, Caps united and Highlanders midfielder Stephen Alimenda has called on Dynamos fans to emulate the enthusiasm and passion which is exhibited by Highlanders fans regardless of what the situation may be. In an interview conducted by Alois Bunjira on popular football programme “In Touch With A Legend” Alimenda had no kind words for dembare supporters.
When asked about the difference between Dynamos and Highlanders fans, Alimenda was quick to point out that Bosso faithfuls appear to exhibit more enthusiasm than their Dynamos counterparts,”I am not saying Dynamos fans do not rally behind their team, I am merely saying that Highlanders have true fanatics. Despite being behind, Bosso fans try and uplift their team in whatever moment, they rally behind their team 100 percent. Having played for both teams I noticed that Dynamos fans tend to get into a shell when they fall behind and in some circumstances they can even turn against their team. I am challenging dembare fans to change their attitude and emulate what Bosso fans do”.
Stephen Alimenda is one of the few players to play for all of Zimbabwe’s big clubs after turning out for Highlanders, Caps united and Dynamos. The gritty defensive midfielder who began his career at Chrome Stars also had stints with Lancashire Steel, Mwana Africa and Triangle. A niggling knee injury while at triangle however led to him calling it quits following an impressive career which also saw him turn out for the Zimbabwe under 20 side as well as the senior national team.
Alimenda is currently involved in grassroots development after forming the Alimenda Stephen Academy two years ago. The development initiative is based in Glen Norah and boasts of under 10,12,14,16,18 and 20 age groups.
