Ngezi, Triangle share spoils in a four-goal thriller

The return of topflight football with the Chibuku Super Cup mini-league in Zimbabwe was marked by glitz and glamour across the country this Wednesday with the major highlight being the clash between Group 4 log leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars and Triangle in a match which ended 2-2 in a four-goal thriller at Mandava Stadium.

Madamburo were quick to get off the hook and their efforts were rewarded as early as the 14th minute when lanky forward Denver Mukamba fired home to give the Mhondoro Ngezi outfit the lead in a match which went to half time with the log leaders leading.

With the second half almost the same as the first 45 minutes which saw Ngezi dominating most of the possession, the hour mark became the turning point of the game which saw three quick goals being fired in just a space of two minutes.

Triangle swiftly found their rhythm and centre forward Delic Murimba grabbed the equaliser for the Sugar Boys on the 60th minute before their celebration was cut short as Bruno Mutigo restored the lead for Ngezi a minute later.

At this point the encounter turned dramatic as goals were raining after Murimba again levelled matters for Triangle in the 62nd minute enabling the Taurayi Mangwiro tutored outfit to get back into the game.

At this juncture both teams looked desperate for a win but played with caution which saw the game ending in a 2-2 stalemate.

Elsewhere, premiership new boys Cranborne Bullets drew 1-1 with Manica Diamonds at Sakubva Stadium while Herentals and ZPC Kariba registered a 0-0 stalemate at the National Sports Stadium as Chicken lnn beat Bulawayo City 2-0 at Barbourfields.
