SRC sticks to its guns
The country’s sports supreme body the SRC says it will not reverse its decision on suspending the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Board as part of measures to bring sanity to the game which has for long failed to blossom.
The SRC on Tuesday disbanded the entire ZIFA Board after their slumber on the wheels had reached crescendo levels.
The move which has sparked debate in football circles was welcomed by many stakeholders who are saying the decision was long overdue.
While football lovers are in panic mode over a looming suspension from FIFA and are calling for the supreme sports body to think things carefully and reinstate the board at 53 Livingstone Avenue, the SRC has stuck to its guns.
“SRC notes the misinformation circulating concerning a possible reversal of the ZIFA Board suspension, this is not factual. SRC is resolute in implementing its mandate to address areas that have crippled football development in Zimbabwe,” posted SRC on their official Twitter page.
Zimbabwe is set to take part at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon in January and should the authorities that be fail to play their cards well, the Warriors will kiss goodbye any hopes of playing on the continental stage until ZIFA’s house is in order.
