Ngezi Platinum Stars march on

Ngezi Platinum Stars kept their hopes of lifting the Chibuku Super Cup crown alive when they edged army side Craneborne Bullets 1-0 at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday to progress to the final of the tournament.
Midfielder Bruno Mtigo was at it again as the 26-year-old player gave the Rodwell Dhlakama coached outfit the last laugh after a tough encounter.
As if he is scoring for fun, Mtigo’s goal took his tally to 7 in this year’s edition of the Chibuku Super Cup extravaganza as he marches on to grab the top goal scorer award of this tournament.
Ngezi were off to a good start and dictated the pace of the game in the early stages but they could not break the Hurricanes defense as the match went to half time tied at 0-0.
With just two minutes after the breather, Mtigo fired home to give his side the lead and his effort was all that separated the two sides in a match which ended in a waterlogged pitch after some heavy downpours.
Although Craneborne Bullets crawled back into the game Dhlakama’s charges could not be moved as they jealously guarded their goal enroute to booking a ticket to the final.
With chances far and wide between the two teams, the Hurricanes somehow found some space and midfielder Wonder Kapinda almost levelled matters in the 70th minute but his well-taken shot from outside the box which had left Nelson Chadya in goal for Madamburo hands down, hit the crossbar.
And in the end Madamburo marched on and they will once again face perennial rivals FC Platinum in the final of the Chibuku Super Cup tournament at a later date.
