Songani leaves FC Platinum, joins Vestri
Seasoned forward Silas Songani has found his way back to Europe after completing a move to Iceland second tier side Knattspyrnudeild Vestra, also known as Vestri.
Songani joins the club as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with Zimbabwe champions FC Platinum in December last year.
Posting on his official Twitter handle on Wednesday, the former Warrior wrote; “Every wait has a worth!”
This is not the first time that the former Zimbabwe international is joining a club as a free agent after he also joined Kugona Kunenge Kudada in similar fashion from Danish third-tier side FC Sydvest 05 in February 2020.
Songani made just 10 appearances and scored once during his stay at the Danish club in 2019.
The experienced striker will have a family union with Warriors midfielder Kundai Benyu who is currently with the national team for the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon.
Despite being 32, the striker has proven he still has what it takes to play in Europe, a sign that he was in good hands under Norman Mapeza.
The former Harare City man had made his return to the country’s domestic topflight in 2020 after spending six years in Europe.
Songani who will link up with former teammate at another Danish side SönderjyskE, Nicolaj Madsen had initially signed a pre-contract with Vestri in November last year and will be officially registered with the club in February ahead of the commencement of the new season.
The move is arguably the player’s last as his footballing career is reaching its twilight.
