Musona salutes SRC

Zimbabwe captain Knowledge Musona has paid tribute to the government for honouring their pledge to support the national team saying their commitment to the national cause will go a long way in motivating the players.
The government through the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) made sure that the team’s preparations ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals are smooth by paying the players and officials’ allowances on time as the Warriors eye to go beyond the group stage of the tournament for the first time.
“I would like to thank the Sports and Recreation Commission [government] for their support in paying players’ allowances on time and the camping of the team in Cameroon since 30 December 2021. This means a lot to us as players and we really appreciate it. We are extremely grateful because it shows how deeply our government cares for us and football. The move will definitely motivate us to do well and fight for the badge as we always do. The team can now fully focus on preparing well for the tournament without any distractions,” said Musona.
The Warriors participation at the previous AFCON editions in 2017 and 2019 was marred by controversy as players at one point threatened to boycott games over unpaid allowances and bonuses.
And with the way things stand in the Zimbabwe camp this time, fans across the globe can only hope for better fortunes.
Meanwhile, Senegal have made it clear that they want to win the tournament hence the need for Zimbabwe to step up their preparations if they to match their opponents.
