Platinum derby expected to produce fireworks

By Geronimo News

The battle of the platinum miners often produces plenty of entertainment and Saturday’s clash pitting Ngezi Platinum Stars and FC Platinum is expected to be no different.

With the Baobab Stadium set to play host to Saturday’s duel, Mhondoro is set to come to a standstill when the two platinum backed cousins lock horns.

Ngezi Platinum Stars will be bleeding following a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Herentals College FC in the Chibuku Super Cup but interim coach Takesure Chiragwi will be hoping to turn things around when his charges take to the field against an in form FC Platinum.

In the aftermath of the club’s loss at the hands of Herentals College, fans were clearly agitated by the side’s failure to progress beyond the first round of the Chibuku Super Cup tournament and Madamburo will be keen to turn around their fortunes when they face Kugona Kunenge Kudada.

In the reverse fixture Ngezi Platinum Stars walked away 1-nil victors at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane and the Mhondoro-based side will be eager for another positive result in a clash which will see them enjoying home advantage.

While Ngezi will be keen for victory FC Platinum presents a daunting challenge given their recent form.

Sitting at the apex of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League log standings FC Platinum have not lost in any of their last 11 matches, winning 9 and drawing 2.

With a 6 point cushion at the summit Kugona Kunenge Kudada mentor Norman Mapeza will be keen for a win which would see them move closer towards the league title especially after dropping two crucial points in their 1-all draw against Black Rhinos in their last league outing.
