AURA Group Addresses Starlink Capacity Concerns in Zimbabwe with New Pricing

On October 25, 2024, AURA Group, the authorized reseller for Starlink in Zimbabwe, provided clarity regarding recent capacity concerns affecting the satellite internet service. These issues have raised questions among users in Harare and nearby areas, particularly about the availability of new subscriptions.

According to AURA Group, the “sold out” notification on Starlink’s website pertains specifically to standard residential packages. However, they confirmed that services for enterprise and small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) remain unaffected and continue to operate smoothly. This distinction is crucial for businesses relying on uninterrupted connectivity, assuring them that their access to Starlink remains secure.

To further support users, AURA Group, in collaboration with TelOne—another authorized reseller—is facilitating account transfers for customers experiencing roaming issues. Starlink has a policy that restricts service use outside the registered country after a 60-day period. Users have reported receiving email notifications indicating their service will be restricted if they exceed this limit. The notification states, “Your Starlink has been restricted for active use outside of your account country for greater than the 60 days included with your ‘Roam Unlimited’ service plan.” To restore service, users are instructed to return their devices to the country where their service was activated.

In light of these developments, AURA Group has announced new pricing for Starlink kits. Standard kits will now be priced at US$389, an increase from the previous US$350. Mini kits are available for US$200, but this offer does not extend to Harare and surrounding regions. Additionally, a transfer fee of US$150 will be charged to cover regulatory costs associated with previously smuggled kits.

AURA Group emphasized its commitment to providing reliable connectivity solutions tailored to the needs of various businesses. Their statement reassured clients, saying, “AURA Group continues to be your trusted partner in delivering seamless, high-speed connectivity tailored specifically for businesses, ensuring you stay connected no matter where you operate.”

As the demand for reliable internet services continues to grow in Zimbabwe, AURA Group’s proactive measures aim to alleviate concerns and provide clarity to existing and potential Starlink users, particularly those facing roaming restrictions or seeking new subscriptions.

With these adjustments, AURA Group hopes to maintain customer satisfaction and encourage more businesses to leverage the advantages of Starlink’s high-speed internet services amidst ongoing changes in pricing and availability.
