Mechanic Manyeruke to Shine at Gospel Legends Night

Veteran gospel musician Mechanic Manyeruke is set to light up the stage this weekend at the highly anticipated Gospel Legends Night at Rainbow Towers. The event, organized by UK-based Zimbabwean gospel artist Eleana Makombe, will feature a stellar lineup of gospel greats, including Shuvai Wutaunashe, Pastor G, Pastor Bonnie Deuschle, the Charambas, Carol Mujokoro, Fungisai Zvakavapano, Prince Mafukidze, and Pastor Haisa.

At 82 years old and with a remarkable career spanning over 54 years, Manyeruke expressed gratitude for the opportunity to perform alongside such esteemed peers. Reflecting on his journey, he said, “This is a good initiative. I feel humbled and happy to be remembered.”

Throughout his extensive career, Manyeruke has been an influential figure in Zimbabwe’s gospel music scene, contributing timeless songs that have touched the hearts of many. Despite his age, he remains passionate about his craft and continues to perform at memorial and funeral services, a testament to his dedication to music and his audience.

While acknowledging the changing landscape of the music industry, Manyeruke emphasized the importance of creativity and innovation. “As long as the voice is still there, absolutely, you can perform,” he asserted, inspiring younger artists to remain true to their craft.

Manyeruke also shared valuable advice for emerging gospel artists. He stressed the importance of embracing originality and African musical influences, rather than replicating Western styles. “We need to be proud of our music,” he encouraged.

Discipline and respect were also key themes in his advice for aspiring musicians. “Bad behavior will kill your music career,” he warned, emphasizing the importance of professionalism in the industry.

The Gospel Legends Night aims to honor the contributions of these pioneering gospel artists while fostering a sense of community within the genre. It promises to be an unforgettable night of music, celebration, and legacy, as gospel legends unite to inspire a new generation of listeners and musicians alike.
