Teenage Hadebe Returns to FC Cincinnati for Preseason Training Ahead of 2025 MLS Season
Zimbabwean international defender Teenage Hadebe has returned to the United States to begin preseason training with FC Cincinnati ahead of the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) season. After spending the off-season break in Zimbabwe, the Warriors’ second vice-captain rejoined his teammates last Friday, eager to continue building on the success he enjoyed in his debut MLS season.
Hadebe, who signed with FC Cincinnati as a free agent in August 2024, is poised for his first full season with the club. His performances towards the end of the 2024 season earned him a regular spot in Cincinnati’s starting lineup, with many praising his contributions on the pitch. Reflecting on the upcoming season, Hadebe said he was “ready to kickstart the 2025 season” and emphasized his commitment to the club, stating, “I have not changed my goal or mindset about this club. I will continue to give my all as we look forward to achieving many goals this season.”
Initially arriving at FC Cincinnati as a substitute, Hadebe’s consistent and stellar performances throughout the latter part of the season helped him secure a starting position. His efforts culminated in a standout display in Cincinnati’s 1-0 home victory over New York City in the first leg of the MLS Cup playoffs in October 2024. The performance drew praise from FC Cincinnati’s staff writer, Carter Chapley, who described it as Hadebe’s best performance for the club to date. Chapley noted the defender’s intensity, leadership, and encouraging presence on the field, which helped propel Cincinnati to success in the high-pressure playoff match.
Hadebe’s form with FC Cincinnati has not only made an impact at the club level but also contributed to the Zimbabwe national team’s success. He played a crucial role in the Warriors’ qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals, which will be held in Morocco later this year.
As he prepares for the new season, Hadebe is determined to build on the momentum from his successful 2024 campaign. With his continued focus on giving his best for FC Cincinnati, Hadebe will be a key player to watch in the upcoming MLS season.
