Cimas Hosts Third iGo Pedal to Wellness Event to Promote Healthy Living

Cimas Health Group successfully hosted the third edition of the iGo Pedal to Wellness event, drawing more than 300 participants committed to promoting fitness and wellness. The cycling initiative aims to encourage active lifestyles as a preventative measure against chronic diseases, which continue to rise globally.

Dr. Nicola Misi, Head of iGo, highlighted the purpose of the event. “Today we hosted the annual Pedal to Wellness event, and we are happy with the turnout. We are here to promote cardiovascular health. In commemoration of World Heart Day, we are encouraging people to get active because chronic diseases are increasing. Cycling is a fun way of keeping fit, and you can do it alone or with your family. Cimas iGo is all about wellness. We are promoting active lifestyles, good nutrition, and better health overall. We want people to reach out to us for guidance so that together, we can keep the ball rolling on preventative health,” she said.

Dr. Misi stressed that physical wellness, proper nutrition, and consistent exercise are essential for building a healthier nation.

Participants expressed enthusiasm for the event. Edwin Mazhou, taking part for the second time, completed 22.5 km and praised cycling for its health benefits. “I have always loved cycling since I was a kid because of the health benefits it brings. I can see that I have improved this year. Events like these motivate us to get active and live healthier as a community,” he said.

Regular cyclist Amanda Gore also completed 22.5 km and spoke about the broader benefits of cycling. “I cycle as a hobby, for wellness, and self-discovery. It’s fun—you cover ground, see new things, and discover nature. Many women don’t take part because they think it’s only for men, but cycling is for everyone. Women should come and join us so we can all get fit together.” She added that cycling supports heart health, making the event especially meaningful on World Heart Day.

Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 19.8 million people died from CVDs in 2022, representing 32% of all global deaths. Heart attacks and strokes accounted for 85% of these deaths. Most of these conditions can be prevented by addressing risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, harmful alcohol consumption, and environmental pollution.

By promoting regular physical activity and wellness awareness, Cimas iGo events play a vital role in preventing chronic illnesses and encouraging communities to adopt healthier lifestyles.
