Insimbi ZeZhwane Set to Ignite Tshibilika Once Again with New Album Infundamakhwela

Tshibilika music giants Insimbi ZeZhwane are set to make a powerful comeback with their upcoming album titled Infundamakhwela, scheduled for release on November 1. The project marks an emotional milestone for the group, being their second major release since the tragic deaths of founding members Elvis “MaEli” Mathe and Thembinkosi “Maviri” Mpofu in a 2023 road accident.

Despite the heartbreaking loss, Insimbi ZeZhwane has continued to uphold the legacy of Tshibilika, a genre deeply rooted in Ndebele culture and driven by raw energy, guitar riffs, and storytelling. The band’s commitment to keeping the sound alive has cemented their status as one of Zimbabwe’s most enduring musical groups.

The seven-track album was produced and composed by the band at TM Records. It features lead vocals from Ergan “Magic Fingers” Nzima, with Nkosikhona Ngwabi handling mixing and mastering duties. Instrumentation was provided by Nzima, Meluleki “Brema” Moyo, Praylord “Bhinkie Bhinkie” Mkhonto, and Mafiyosi Ndlovu.

The tracklist includes Folosi, Umthobanhliziyo, Ingezamanxeba, Inkemba, Ulibofuzo, Umambule, and the title track Infundamakhwela. Each song delivers the band’s signature sound of pulsating rhythm and expressive guitar work while introducing modern production techniques that appeal to a wider audience.

Frontman Brema Moyo described the project as both a tribute and a renewal. “This album is special to us. It represents growth, healing, and the continuation of our brothers’ vision. We poured our hearts into Infundamakhwela, and we can’t wait for our fans to hear it,” he said.

The album’s title, Infundamakhwela, meaning “initiates” or “those beginning a new journey”, reflects the group’s current phase as they forge ahead while honoring the spirits of MaEli and Maviri.

To mark the release, Insimbi ZeZhwane will host a live album launch at Newtown Music Factory (formerly Baseline) in Johannesburg, South Africa. Fans can expect an energetic night filled with new material, classic hits, and emotional tributes to the group’s late founders.

For Insimbi ZeZhwane, Infundamakhwela is more than an album. It is a statement of survival, unity, and commitment to the legacy of Tshibilika music.
