Spirit Praise Worship Team Set to Release Fourth Live Album

Gospel music fans are preparing for a spiritually charged festive season as Spirit Praise Worship Team gears up to launch its fourth live recording project, Receive Our Praise, on December 20 in Harare. The nine-track album promises a mix of high-energy praise and contemplative worship, aimed at guiding believers through a season of thanksgiving, reflection, and spiritual renewal.

Director Learnmore Tavengwa says the album reflects months of prayer, meticulous planning, and creative collaboration.

“We are thrilled to release our fourth live album. It is a culmination of hard work, prayer, and spiritual preparation,” Tavengwa said. “Being a live-performance outfit, we are presenting it as it was meant to be experienced, live, giving our fans and families an early Christmas gift. The team is ready, and we are excited to launch in style, featuring our mentors, The Charambas.”

Spirit Praise has built a reputation for capturing the raw energy of worship in real-time. Most of its recordings are done during evangelical crusades rather than in controlled studio settings. Tavengwa explained that this approach is intentional and reflects the team’s ministry-focused philosophy.

“Our brand is built on ministry. We believe we are called to evangelise and minister to lost souls, and that drives everything we do,” he said.

This live approach gives listeners a sense of authenticity, allowing them to experience worship as it unfolds among congregants. Spirit Praise first gained widespread attention with their breakthrough project, Pandatsika Ndatora, which featured gospel favourite Sharon Cherayi. By combining traditional rhythms with modern worship elements, the group has carved a unique niche in Zimbabwe’s gospel scene and built a dedicated following.

Tavengwa acknowledged that some critics question the group’s decision not to pursue chart dominance or large-scale concerts, but he insists Spirit Praise measures success differently.

“Some groups chase chart positions, which is fine, but Spirit Praise is focused on fulfilling its God-given mission,” he said. “Our concern is not popularity, but the transformation of lives through our music. We aim to reach those God has assigned to us.”

The group now comprises 40 musicians and 30 volunteer members handling prayer, ushering, and protocol duties. This structure underscores their focus on ministry over fame.

Receive Our Praise continues that ethos, designed to inspire, uplift, and reconnect believers with the spirit of worship.

“We want people to experience the presence of God through our music, not just enjoy melodies,” Tavengwa said. “The album is meant to remind believers why we worship and how praise can heal, comfort, and transform lives.”

Musically, the live project reflects the team’s growth, blending energetic praise songs with reflective worship tracks that encourage gratitude, hope, and personal growth as the year closes. Fans can expect traditional museve-driven gospel elements, intricate harmonies, and moments highlighting both individual and collective artistry.

The launch of Receive Our Praise positions Spirit Praise Worship Team as a leading force in Zimbabwe’s gospel landscape, offering music that prioritizes spiritual impact over commercial gain.
