Tony and Alisa DeLorenzo Launch First Zimbabwe Edition of One Extraordinary Marriage Conference

Globally recognised marriage coaches Tony and Alisa DeLorenzo brought their transformative One Extraordinary Marriage teachings to Zimbabwe for the first time at Zimbali Gardens on Saturday. The event, hosted by Zimworx, attracted nearly 100 couples eager to explore strategies for lasting intimacy and connection. Drawing on more than three decades of marriage experience, the DeLorenzos shared candid insights from their own journey, including financial collapse, miscommunication, and near-divorce moments. Their approach combines lived experience with research compiled over five years and more than 900 podcast episodes. Attendees were introduced to the six pillars of intimacy, a framework designed to help couples intentionally cultivate emotional, physical, financial, spiritual, recreational, and sexual closeness.
Tony and Alisa anchored their teachings in personal testimony, emphasizing resilience and the conscious decision to rebuild when faced with marital challenges. “We didn’t know what we didn’t know about marriage,” Tony admitted, setting a tone of honesty and vulnerability that resonated with the audience. The couple encouraged participants to move beyond societal misconceptions of intimacy, clarifying that true closeness extends far beyond sexual connection. Emotional intimacy was highlighted as the “workhorse” of a marriage, with Tony noting that partners cannot be expected to read each other’s minds. Financial intimacy was also a key focus, with the DeLorenzos revealing a US$50,000 debt that almost broke them, demonstrating how small, consistent conversations can prevent long-term strain.
Sexual intimacy was addressed with nuance, encouraging couples to integrate it naturally within the broader context of their relationship. Tony explained that when all other pillars are strengthened, sexual intimacy finds its rightful place, shifting the focus from performance to mutual understanding and communication. Alisa stressed the importance of intentional rhythm, dignity, and partnership in cultivating a healthy sexual connection. Attendees were prompted to identify areas of vulnerability in their relationships and commit to actionable steps over the following 30 days. The interactive format, featuring questions like “What helps you feel heard?” ensured that couples engaged actively, fostering reflection and dialogue rather than passive listening.
Zimworx leadership framed the conference as part of a holistic philosophy that links strong marriages to stronger communities. Tonderai Nyakuhwa, global head of operations at Zimworx, highlighted the role of marriage as a God-given institution capable of enhancing long-term happiness when nurtured. Pastor Sam Muzivi reinforced this vision, describing the event as a starting point rather than a single intervention. The conference also emphasized consistency over perfection, with the DeLorenzos underscoring that excellence in marriage is built one conversation at a time. Emotional safety, financial honesty, spiritual unity, and shared purpose were presented as the foundation for trust, respect, and enduring connection.
The Zimbabwe event is part of a broader African tour targeting couples, singles, church leaders, and corporate communities. Upcoming sessions include singles workshops at FunZone, a dinner for American Chamber of Commerce members, and a leadership clinic for pastors and chaplains. Regional events in Zambia and Victoria Falls are scheduled for later in March, reflecting the tour’s ambition to reach diverse audiences. The conference reinforced a clear message: strong marriages are deliberate constructions built on skills, communication, and shared commitment. By equipping couples with actionable tools and fostering open dialogue, Tony and Alisa DeLorenzo are helping participants transform relationships into partnerships defined by intentionality, trust, and sustainable intimacy.
