Indosakusa the Morning Star to Headline Zimbabwe Independence Celebrations with New Album “Unembeza”

Indosakusa the Morning Star will take the spotlight at this year’s Zimbabwe Independence Day celebrations with a major headline performance that combines national pride and gospel music. The respected gospel group is set to perform at Minda High School in Matobo District, Matabeleland South Province, on April 18. Their appearance comes at a significant moment as they prepare to release their 13th studio album titled “Unembeza”. The group is expected to perform selected tracks from the upcoming project during the national event. The celebration will bring together music lovers and community members for a performance that blends faith, culture, and independence festivities.
The album “Unembeza” is scheduled for release in Bulawayo one day before the Independence Day celebrations, creating a strong build-up to the group’s live performance. It features 10 tracks and continues the group’s long history of gospel music centred on faith and meaningful messages. Group leader Oscar K Siziba, also known as Thobela, confirmed that preparations are complete and the group is ready for both the launch and the Independence Day stage. He said the inspiration for the project comes from spiritual guidance and divine influence, which has always shaped their creative process. According to him, the group uses music as a tool to spread hope, prophecy, and teachings about salvation.
The title track “Unembeza”, meaning “Consciousness”, stands out as one of the key songs on the album. Siziba explained that the song reflects global challenges, including conflict between nations and rising instability around the world. The message encourages awareness, reflection, and responsibility in difficult times. The group has also introduced new musical elements in this project to expand their sound. Traditional instruments have been incorporated to appeal to younger audiences while maintaining their gospel identity. This blend of styles shows their effort to remain relevant while respecting their roots.
Recording for the album took place in South Africa at JLS Studios, giving the project a different production environment compared to their earlier work. This experience allowed the group to refine their sound and introduce new creative elements into their music. Siziba noted that the production process added depth and variety to the final compositions. In addition to spiritual themes, the album also addresses everyday social issues. One of the songs, “Who Will Guard the Guard”, focuses on insecurity in workplaces and concerns about trust and safety. Other tracks carry uplifting messages such as encouragement that no one can limit another person’s destiny.
The group credits its unity and long-standing success to prayer and strong faith. Siziba highlighted their reliance on scripture, referring to Psalm 127:1 as a guiding principle in their journey. This belief system has helped them remain consistent and united since their formation. Over the years, Indosakusa the Morning Star has maintained its presence in the gospel industry through discipline and shared purpose. Their ability to stay together for more than two decades reflects both commitment and spiritual grounding.
At the Independence Day celebrations, the group plans to give audiences a preview of songs from the new album. They have promised a strong and energetic performance designed to match the importance of the national event. The stage will also serve as a platform to introduce their latest sound to a wider audience. Fans can expect a performance that combines new material with the group’s established gospel favourites. This appearance strengthens their role as one of Zimbabwe’s most influential gospel ensembles.
After the album launch and Independence Day performance, the group will shift focus to their anniversary celebrations in May. Plans are also in place for future growth, including international collaborations and expanded touring opportunities. Siziba stated that the group is aiming higher with new goals that include reaching audiences beyond Zimbabwe. Their vision reflects both artistic ambition and continued commitment to gospel messaging. Founded in 2001 in Mapane Village, Gwanda, Indosakusa the Morning Star has built a strong legacy built on harmony, faith, and consistency. With “Unembeza” and upcoming projects, the group continues to strengthen its position as a leading voice in gospel music across the region.
