Zanele Moyo Crowned Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2026 After Standout Performance in Harare Finale

Bulawayo-based model Zanele Moyo has emerged as the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2026 winner after outperforming 12 other contestants at a competitive grand finale held in Harare on April 11. The event formed part of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair activities and celebrated not only beauty but also culture, heritage and the country’s tourism potential. The pageant ran under the theme “See Zimbabwe First and Zimbabwe’s Ideal Miss,” which reflects a strong focus on domestic tourism and national pride. Moyo’s victory places her at the forefront of promoting Zimbabwe as a travel destination while also positioning her as a cultural ambassador. Her win did not come as a surprise to many in the modelling industry, as she has built a strong reputation through years of consistent work and pageant success.
The competition featured a diverse group of contestants, including Lisa Kwainona, Beautify Siziba, Vimbainashe Mutyavaviri, Rutendo Magade, Zandile Sibanda, Ropafadzo Manyanga, Alexis Thuthani, Ruvarashe Jane Darare, Miriraiishe Magebede, Petronella Phiri, Letween Pikire, Noxolo Dube, Kathleen Chaziya, Mavhu Alexandra Kaseke and Silence Tadzembwa. Each contestant brought unique strengths and perspectives, making the contest highly competitive. Despite the strong field, Moyo stood out due to her confidence, clarity of purpose and consistent performance throughout the event. Judges looked beyond physical appearance and evaluated contestants on their ability to represent Zimbabwe’s tourism sector effectively. Moyo demonstrated strong communication skills and a clear understanding of the responsibilities that come with the title, which ultimately secured her the crown.
With more than four years of experience in the modelling industry, Moyo has steadily built her career since starting at the age of 18. Known affectionately as Jewel, she has transitioned from runway modelling into pageantry and commercial work with a clear focus on purpose-driven representation. She has emphasized that modelling has always been more than just appearances for her, as she sees it as a platform for storytelling, advocacy and empowerment. Her journey includes winning Miss Uhuru Zimbabwe 2025, a title that helped her develop leadership skills and expand her philanthropic work. Through initiatives such as Project Discover Zimbabwe, she has already begun using her influence to promote tourism and support community development, particularly through work with orphanages and youth education programs.
Moyo has outlined three key pillars for her reign, which are promote, include and preserve. She plans to use her platform and her print business to market lesser-known destinations such as Matopos and Binga, ensuring that tourism benefits reach smaller communities. One of her key initiatives, “See Your Country First,” aims to give school children and low-income families access to heritage sites across Zimbabwe. She believes that exposure to cultural landmarks is essential for building national pride and identity. In addition, she intends to collaborate with cultural groups and traditional leaders to ensure that heritage is preserved and shared respectfully. Her approach shows a clear strategy that connects tourism with community empowerment and cultural preservation.
Her recent participation in the Imiklomelo KaDakamela Awards also reflects her commitment to celebrating Zimbabwe’s cultural diversity. Although she is not originally from Dakamela, she has expressed a strong belief in national unity and cultural appreciation across all regions. The experience reinforced her dedication to showcasing Zimbabwe’s traditions on larger platforms. She views such events as opportunities to amplify voices that are often overlooked while strengthening cultural pride. This mindset aligns with her broader mission to ensure that Zimbabwe’s heritage receives the recognition it deserves both locally and internationally.
Moyo draws inspiration from Miss South Africa 2020 Shudufhadzo Musida, particularly in how she used her platform to address issues such as mental health, education and self-acceptance. She admires Musida’s ability to remain authentic while challenging traditional beauty standards. This influence is evident in Moyo’s own vision, which focuses on purpose, leadership and meaningful impact. She has stressed that a beauty queen must be judged not only by appearance but also by leadership ability, service and representation. Her perspective reflects a shift in pageantry where substance and advocacy play a central role.
Despite her success, Moyo has faced challenges throughout her journey, particularly in gaining support and maintaining belief in her vision during slower periods of growth. She has acknowledged that progress in the creative industry often requires patience, discipline and consistency. These experiences have shaped her into a more focused and resilient individual. She understands that success in modelling and pageantry is built over time through continuous effort and self-improvement. Her ability to overcome these obstacles has contributed significantly to her readiness for a national title.
Looking ahead, Moyo has set ambitious goals that extend beyond Zimbabwe’s borders. She aims to represent her country on international platforms such as Milan Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week while working with global brands. She views these goals as part of a long-term plan rather than immediate achievements. Her current focus includes expanding her work at Spectrum Creative Studio and growing the Discover Bulawayo project to promote local businesses and tourism. She is committed to refining her skills and building partnerships that will position her for global opportunities.
Zanele Moyo’s victory as Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2026 represents more than a personal achievement. It marks the beginning of a year focused on promoting Zimbabwe’s tourism sector, uplifting communities and preserving cultural heritage. Her clear vision, structured plans and commitment to impact set her apart as a leader in modern pageantry. She has shown that the crown carries responsibility and purpose beyond the stage. As she steps into her role, her actions will likely influence how tourism, culture and youth empowerment intersect in Zimbabwe.
