Delic Murimba finally finds scoring touch

Ngezi Platinum Stars striker Delic Murimba says he feels relieved after scoring his first goal of the season to finally put to an end his long goal drought that had spanned for over 20 games.

The former Triangle forward was last on target when Ngezi Platinum ran riot in the previous season’s final encounter against relegated prison outfit Wha Wha at the Baobab Stadium.

In that aforementioned encounter, Madamburo hammered the prison wardeners 5-0 and Murimba was on the scoresheet 4 times to become the club’s leading goal scorer with 13 goals.

While many were wondering what happened to the striker with some even calling for his axe from the club, Ngezi coach Takesure Chiragwi saw something in the player and continued to build his character and confidence as he continuously instilled faith in the striker.

“As a striker you need to score goals, and for your presence to be felt in the team, you gotta score goals and help the team grind results. I was feeling the heat and it was becoming increasingly frustrating but I salute my coaches and my teammates who continued to push and stood by me through and through. I feel so relieved to have managed to finally get on the scoresheet and I hope it is the beginning of scoring more goals,” said Murimba after the match.

Chiragwi’s gamble seems to have now paid off as Murimba has finally managed to break his goalless jinx at the weekend.

Meanwhile, Ngezi Platinum are having one of their best seasons and are on course to snatch the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title for the first time.

The Chiragwi coached side tops the 18-team log table with 45 points from 23 matches, thanks to 13 wins and 6 draws.

Should they remain focused and consistent, Madamburo will surely brew a shocker by winning the domestic championship race en-route to earning a ticket to the African Safari once again.
