Chiwoniso Maraire was one of the best musicians to come out of Zimbabwe. Her music was soothing and reflective of the day to day triumphs and challenges faced by most Zimbabweans. Chiwoniso Maraire was a  singer, songwriter, and exponent of Zimbabwean mbira music. She was the daughter of Zimbabwean Mbira Master and teacher Dumisani Maraire.
