Cassava Technologies Strengthens Leadership Team with Key Appointments

Cassava Technologies has announced a series of strategic management appointments aimed at accelerating growth and innovation across its operations in Africa and beyond. The leadership changes, effective March 1, 2025, reflect the company’s commitment to strengthening its market position and enhancing operational efficiency.
New Leadership Appointments
In Zimbabwe, Lorreta Songola has been appointed as the managing director, overseeing Cassava’s local business operations. Meanwhile, Wellington Makamure takes on the role of chief executive officer (CEO) for Africa and beyond, focusing on driving the company’s expansion strategy across the continent.
Finhai Munzara has been named chief corporate development officer, responsible for mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and strategic partnerships.
Other key appointments include:
- Bronwen Zehmke – Group General Counsel
- Leonard Bore – Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, overseeing compliance risk, enterprise risk, internal audit, and ESG teams
- Sharon Marufu – Chief Supply Chain Officer, managing group-wide supply chain and procurement
Additionally, Ahmed El Beheiry has been appointed as chief operations officer and chief artificial intelligence officer, tasked with leading commercial strategy, business processes, and supply chain. Deon Geyser will serve as CEO of Liquid Networks, a Cassava Technologies subsidiary, responsible for connectivity services across Africa.
In regional operations, Ziaad Suleman will lead Cassava’s South African business, focusing on growth and innovation strategies, while Adil El Youssefi has been named CEO of the co-location business for the group.

Cassava Technologies’ president and group CEO, Hardy Pemhiwa, emphasized that these leadership changes align with the company’s vision of building a dynamic and diverse executive team to drive growth and innovation.
