Roki Returns to Music With Fresh Focus and Upcoming Amapiano Collaboration

Roki, once hailed as Zimbabwe’s golden child of music, has kept a lower profile since his short-lived comeback in 2021 under Passion Java Records. Many believed his career fizzled out when Prophet Passion Java stopped promoting him. However, Roki insists he never quit music.

“Social media will always be social media. I don’t get why people say I quit, iwe I never quit music inini. Even before Passion Java, I was always working on music, just that now I have more responsibilities,” Roki told Nehanda Radio.

Best known for hits like “Patati Patata” and “Chidzoka,” the singer explained that he has been working behind the scenes. He now spends most of his time in South African studios, focusing on music production. “I’ve been working behind the scenes, and most of the time I work in South African studios. I’m more into producing lately, so people will not know exactly what I’m doing then they say ndakapera,” he said.

Roki’s priorities have also shifted. He is now balancing family life and business responsibilities with his creative work. “As a family man I’m looking at being a present father for my kids and running my family business. You see, all this is time-consuming, but I still make time to be in studio,” he explained.

While he acknowledges it will be difficult to dominate the charts again, Roki confirmed that he has a new release lined up for the festive season. He revealed that the upcoming single will feature a major amapiano artist from South Africa. “December is around the corner. I have something planned for my fans. I will be dropping one banger that will get everyone dancing,” he said.

Roki’s latest direction shows he has not abandoned music but has evolved into a more behind-the-scenes role while preparing selective projects. For fans who thought his career had ended, his upcoming release is proof that he is still active, just on his own terms.
