When it comes to colds and flu, it seems like everybody is an expect. You have probably heard the dos and don’ts of colds and flu. When you look at some of the advice though there are some myths. Below are a few myths about colds and flu debunked.
1. Cold weather can make you sick
You have had your mother or grandmother tell you to put on something warm otherwise you will catch a cold. The fact is that you only get hypothermia.
2. Feed a cold and starve a fever
The saying is inaccurate is to stay hydrated and eat when you feel like eating.
3. My pet gave me the flu
There are a few illnesses that can pass between animals and humans, but you won’t catch a cold or the flu from your pet. If you find yourself feeling a little irritated then maybe you are allergic to your pet.
4. Vitamin C will cure or prevent the common cold
We all have been told to have citrus fruits to prevent colds. Although vitamin C is good for your body, it doesn’t really work towards curbing colds.
5. You should stay in bed all day
When you have a cold or flu, you are often advised to stay in bed and rest. Although this is good advice, get some exercise. By being active you help yourself feel better.
