Advocate Mahere officially joins the MDC.

Advocate Fadzai Mahere officially officially joined the opposition party MDC.Mahere has been active on the political scene as an independent activist. She even contested for the My Pleasant constituency as an independent candidate during the election period.

Mahere released a statement confirming the latest development. She stated,”Zimbabwe deserves a strong, United opposition to build the future. I’m happy to announce that I’ve officially joined the MDC. We must speak with one voice against bad governance and strive to create a nation that is free and prosperous”. Both Nelson Chamisa the leader of the MDC and Fadzai Mahere are advocates.

Mahere is no stranger to having her voice heard on the political scene. She rallied behind Pastor Evan Mawarire during the #tajamuka initiative. She encouraged people to speak out against what she termed bad governance and corruption.

She was once arrested for her activism but released after charges against her were dropped. Mahere is a sharp witted lawyer and part time lecturer. She is one of the few female figures actively involved in political affairs. There has been speculation on whether she will replace the late Vimbai Tsvangirai who passed away recently as secretary general of the women’s assembly of the MDC.
