BeingAfrican Book Club: Gladys Jakachira’s Innovative Space for African Identity and Culture

Culturally confident Gladys Jakachira has launched an innovative platform called BeingAfrican Book Club. This space connects African cultural diversity by bringing African stories together with real conversations about identity, healing, and heritage.
Jakachira is a culture, leadership, and marriage coach. She co-authored the book Marriage Vowels with Audrey Vimbai Ndaba. The book promotes a school-like approach to marriage. Unlike traditional premarital counselling or short seminars, it offers a step-by-step, holistic journey. This approach prepares the heart first, emphasizing culture as the foundation.
Jakachira described her collaboration with Ndaba as humbling and spirit-led. She explained that Ndaba raised important questions that many young people fear to ask. Jakachira contributed stories from her own marriage and from research, including focus groups. Together, they created a curriculum that blends spiritual grounding with practical guidance.
BeingAfrican Book Club aims to deepen understanding of African identity and culture. It invites members to engage with stories that reflect real experiences. The platform supports healing and heritage preservation through honest dialogue.
Jakachira’s work challenges the conventional view of marriage preparation. Her focus on culture, spirit, and practical steps makes the journey meaningful. BeingAfrican Book Club stands as a unique space where African voices unite to celebrate diversity and shared values.
