Breaking News: MDC T Leader Morgan Tsvangirai Dies
MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai has died at the age of 65. The news was confirmed by one of his deputy president’s Elias Mudzuri on Twitter last night. Mudzi right posted:
As you are aware that our MDC T President, Dr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai has not been feeling well for some time, it is sad for me to announce that we have lost our icon and fighter for democracy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, the party and the nation at this hour.

His wife Elizabeth Tsvangirai also confirmed the sad development. Tsvangirai had been battling colon cancer. Tsvangirai was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016.
At the time of his passing he was admitted in South Africa where he was receiving treatment. Before leaving for treatment in South Africa, Tsvangirai hinted at stepping down as leader of the opposition party to make way for the younger generation.
This news caused a lot of in fighting within the party. Three vice presidents of the party, Nelson Chamisa, Thokozani Khupe and Elias Mudzuri are interested in taking over from Tsvangirai.
Zimbabweans across the board have poured out their condolences. Tsvangirai fought a good fight since his days as the chair of the Zimbabwe Trade Unions. During his political career as the president of the opposition party MDC, he went through several trials
