Charles Mhlauri’s career transformation
The name Charles Mhlauri is associated with football success with merely mentioning him bound to arouse a lot of attention from the footballing community. Mhlauri is renowned for his feats as a coach during his days with Amazulu when he transformed the team into a very competitive team although he did not win the league with them.
Mhlauri however captured the attention of Zimbabwean football when he took over the reigns at Caps United in 2004 and transformed the Green Machine into the most competetive team in the psl. Mhlauri assembled assembled one of the most fluent teams with the side comprosing of players such as Laughter Chilembe, Artwell Mabhiza, Raymond Undi, Cephas Chimedza, Ian Bakala, Silent Katumba, Leonard Tsipa and Brian Badza just to name a few. That side remains the record holders of the most number of points in a psl season.
From Makepekepe Mhlauri would go on to become only the second coach in Zimbabwe’s football history to guide the Warrior’s to Afcon qualification before he left the country headed for the United States. The former gaffer is however back in the country and focusing on a project not football related with fans surprised when Thandazani Zimbwa posted an image of Mhlauri holding a crate of eggs and promoting his business.
Mhlauri is pursuing a massive egg project in Matebeleland and seeking to become a major supplier to retail outlets in the country. An image of Mhlauri holding eggs with remarks of him having pursued an eggs business came as a huge surprise for many who associate his name with coaching prowess.
