Just in: Zim lockdown extended for 14 more days
The president has announced that the current 21 day lockdown will be extended by a further 14 days. He gave reasons for the decision citing the need to control the spread of the virus. ED said after taking into consideration both economic and health factors, the lockdown was to stay put.
The president however made a few changes. He said those in the mining sector must resume operations forthwith but would have to remain within the precicnts of their operating areas.
Manufacturers, both formal and informal, have also been given the green light to resume production.
Health authorities will be under supervision and monitoring with mechanisms to be out in place to ensure they are safe. Those offering essential services will continue providing services.
Most people have welcomed with open hands the extension and have expressed how keen they are to adhere to lockdown rules. Others, however have highlighted their concerns about how they are going to suffer during that period. Most people depend on the informal sector and survive on vending
