Temba Mliswa To Have Public HIV Test
Independent legislator for Norton, Temba Mliswa will on Tuesday undergo a public HIV test after he was accused of deliberately spreading HIV to “innocent young girls.” The allegations were made on Twitter by a user with the handle @TindoMai who said
A person who knowingly infects another person with an STI/HIV nauseates me. Temba Mliswa we are still dealing nenyaya yako yekupa vana utachiona ( Temba Mliswa we are still dealing with your issue of infecting young children with the virus). I sat down newe (with you) in 2013 and begged you, Hauterereri (you do not listen). This time I am exposing you. Eugenia will not die because of you.
When the allegation was made, Temba Mliswa was outside the country but he promised to take an HIV test at the Media Centre to disprove the allegation.
Writing on social media on Monday, Mliswa said,
Please be advised of and invited to attend my Press Conference in conjunction with the Ministry of Health,National AIDS Council&New Start Centre…Tomorrow’s public HIV testing is more about turning negative social media into an awareness campaign against the stigma that is clearly still prevalent in society against those living with HIV/AIDS. Laws must be enacted against those who knowingly infect partners with the virus.
The importance of early detection, knowing your status & acting responsibly can’t be overemphasised enough.
