Zimbabwean born Tendai Mutawarira commonly known as the beast has been appointed tourism ambassador by the Zimbabwran government. The rugby player is based in South Africa.
Mutawarira’s appointment comes at a time when the country is seeking to strengthen it’s ties with neighbouring countries in a bid to revive the economy. Mutawarira is one of the best players in the South African rugby team. He is the most capper prop in South African history.
Mutawarira is it to represent the country. As an internationally recognized personality his influence is expected to yield positive results in terms of revamping the country’s image. There was however speculation over his citizenship, with most people saying that it was not befitting for him to be made an ambassador when he was now recognized as a South African. Mutawarira plays for the national team of South Africa after being officially cleared to play by the South African Rugby Union in 2009.
Others however, said the ministry of tourism had made a good move and that Mutawarira was born in Zimbabwe and still is a Zimbabwean regardless of his dual citizenship status.
