Sakunda energy boss and business kingpin, Kudakwashe Tagwirei is said to be around putting to rest alletions by member of parliament Justice Wadyajena that he had fled to the U.K.
In a recent post fellow members of parliament Tino Machakaire said that Tagwirei never fled and was actually in his way to Zimbabwe from Kenya. He shared an image of both of them in a plane and captioned,” What does a child benefit from burning his father’s house? Kenya now enroute home”.
Tagwirei was recently in the spotlight as government froze all his accounts and those of companies affiliated to him such as Croco motors. This was done after it emerged that his companies were at the forefront of fuelling the spike in the interbank exchange rate by manipulating the black market. The exchange rate had skyrocketed in the past two weeks.
Tagwirei has had his fair share of controvesy and his business interests questioned. He has also said to have clashed with the president on several occasions due to conflicting interests pertaining to his businesses.
It remains to be seen whether the freezing of his bank accounts and those of his companies will yield any results in stabilising the exchange rate. Currently the rate is still high with one USD being rated at an average of 15 ZWL yesterday.
