ZITF 2025: A 65th Anniversary Celebration of Innovation, Culture, and Connection

The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) marked its 65th edition with a dazzling display of creativity, technology, and cultural heritage, transforming the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre into a vibrant, immersive showcase of the nation’s progress. This year’s event, held under the theme of innovation and inclusivity, solidified ZITF’s role as Zimbabwe’s premier trade and cultural exhibition — attracting local and international exhibitors, entertainers, and entrepreneurs in record numbers.

As the blue sapphire anniversary edition, the 2025 ZITF exceeded expectations with high-tech displays, cutting-edge digital experiences, and energetic promotional activations from a wide array of sectors. From financial institutions and mobile network providers to funeral service companies and government agencies, exhibitors pulled out all the stops to captivate the public and leave lasting brand impressions.

A Technological and Creative Showcase

Among the most talked-about innovations were interactive zones using 3D and virtual reality (VR) technologies. Visitors donned VR headsets to explore digital factories, participate in simulated games, and even tour futuristic correctional facilities. The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) stole the spotlight with a stand offering virtual courtroom experiences and modern prison tours, highlighting how technology is shaping the future of justice and rehabilitation.

Gaming stations, 3D glasses, and augmented reality experiences dotted the exhibition grounds, drawing tech-savvy attendees and curious onlookers. These installations didn’t just entertain — they educated, demonstrating how digital tools are being integrated into Zimbabwe’s service delivery and product promotion.

Marketing Meets Performance Art

In true ZITF style, marketing was transformed into performance art. Costumed performers like a Transformer-inspired Bumblebee and a dancing chimpanzee drew crowds to exhibition stands. Music, dance, and comedy were constant companions throughout the fairgrounds, giving the event a carnival-like atmosphere that resonated with both youth and families.

Corporate brands added flair to their displays with photo booths, giveaways, and celebrity appearances. Visitors were likely to brush shoulders with popular radio hosts, social media influencers, and renowned artists — turning every aisle into a networking hotspot.

Cultural Pride on Full Display

ZITF 2025 was also a proud celebration of Zimbabwean heritage. Led by First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa, Amai’s Kitchen showcased traditional dishes, handmade crafts, and the Gota/Nhanga/Ixhiba programme — a cultural initiative focused on instilling values and curbing social challenges like drug abuse among youth.

Schools under the Zimbabwe Foundation for Education with Production (Zimfep) brought tradition to life with a carefully recreated Ndebele homestead. Each element of the homestead reflected the role of family members in Zimbabwean society, creating a powerful teaching moment for visitors.

Marimba music and traditional dance added an unmistakably Zimbabwean rhythm to the event. Nkululeko High School’s marimba band and Mavhudzi High School’s Chimurenga performances captivated audiences, with many attendees documenting the lively cultural showcases on video. Students proudly presented their skills, developed during school breaks, as part of co-curricular programmes aimed at preserving heritage.

Celebrating Diversity and Global Heritage

Adding an international flair, Diane Nyarai Padiwa of AFTRADE DMCC showcased Belarusian traditional attire, sparking conversations about cross-cultural appreciation. Meanwhile, the Miss and Mr Rural Zimbabwe contestants brought together the nation’s 16 tribes in a pageant of traditional dress, language, and dance — including the vibrant Ngquzu performance from the Xhosa community.

Artistes, Influencers, and Big Opportunities

The ZITF wasn’t just a trade show — it was a hub for connection. Hip-hop star Asaph Afrika, who actively participated in the event, reflected on its significance for creatives:

“This year’s ZITF was an eye-opener. I’ve realised the power of networking at events like this — especially for artistes and creatives. I strongly encourage other young people in the city to take advantage of ZITF as a platform to connect with decision-makers from some of the country’s biggest companies and brands.”

Conclusion: A Show for the Ages

From cutting-edge technology and cultural pride to celebrity appearances and youth engagement, the 65th edition of ZITF will go down as one of the most impactful and inclusive trade fairs in Zimbabwe’s history. It didn’t just celebrate commerce — it united tradition, innovation, and creativity under one roof, setting a new benchmark for future exhibitions.
