Alick Macheso to Open 2025 with Free Show at Rufaro Stadium
Sungura maestro Alick Macheso will kickstart his 2025 showbiz calendar with a spectacular free music and entertainment event at Rufaro Stadium in Harare on January 25. The event doubles as the official launch of Swan Valley cigarettes and promises an unforgettable experience for fans, blending top-notch music performances with soccer matches.
A Star-Studded Lineup
The event will feature an exciting lineup of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated artists, including Winky D, Saintfloew, Kinnah, Nisha TS, Master H, Darula, and hypemen DJ Fantan and DJ Levels. Fans can look forward to performances that will keep them entertained from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
DJ Fantan, performing in his hometown, will bring his signature energy alongside his trusted sidekick, DJ Levels. Macheso, who had initially planned to resume live shows in February, will return to the stage earlier to headline this grand occasion.
Music Meets Football
Adding to the excitement, the day will also feature three social soccer matches. Star FM will clash with Swan Valley FC, while Zim Musicians FC takes on Legends Select. The major highlight of the day will be a thrilling encounter between Dynamos Legends and CAPS United FC Legends, offering fans a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
Swan Valley International Managing Director Ushewokunze Mutemwa emphasized the community-oriented nature of the event. “This event is a celebration of both music and soccer, bringing people together to honor our local heroes,” he said in an interview with The Herald Arts.
Affordable Entertainment for All
Although dubbed a “free” show, access to the event requires attendees to purchase two packs of Swan Valley cigarettes, priced at just $1. This unique approach ensures affordability while promoting the brand.
Mutemwa highlighted the importance of the launch at Rufaro Stadium, a venue with historic significance. “Rufaro Stadium is at the heart of Zimbabwean communities. It’s the perfect place to introduce our brand and celebrate what makes us proud as Zimbabweans,” he said.
Safety and Logistics
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, security measures are in place, with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) providing on-site security. Mutemwa assured fans that all necessary precautions have been taken to prevent any incidents during the event.
A Nationwide Movement
The Harare event marks the next phase of the Swan Valley brand’s countrywide launch campaign, following a successful debut in Beitbridge. Future events are planned for Mutare and Bulawayo, making this initiative a true “Swan Movement.”
A Celebration of Talent
With a variety of performances, soccer matches, and community engagement activities, the event promises to be a total celebration of Zimbabwean talent. Music enthusiasts, soccer lovers, and families are encouraged to attend and experience the vibrant blend of entertainment on offer.
Mark your calendars for January 25 and head to Rufaro Stadium for a day filled with music, sports, and community spirit.
