Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2025 Nomqhele Sisa Nkomo Champions Culture and Community Creativity

Nomqhele Sisa Nkomo, crowned Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2025, is using her platform to promote cultural preservation and community development. In a recent interview, she shared her journey, aspirations, and challenges as a cultural ambassador and creative advocate.
Nkomo’s rise began at Miss Nust, where she discovered her potential and gained confidence. “That experience gave me the confidence to pursue something bigger, representing my country,” she told NewsDay Life & Style. Her goal is to showcase Zimbabwe’s beauty, culture, and resilience on a global stage.
When she learned she had won the title, Nkomo described the moment as surreal. “My heart was racing and tears formed because I realised I was stepping into a role bigger than myself, a symbol of pride and purpose.”
She finds fulfillment in inspiring others. “I’ve grown more confident in who I am and what I offer. Milestones include creating platforms that blend poetry with advocacy and building stronger networks around environmental and cultural storytelling,” she said.
Nkomo balances her artistic work with her duties as Miss Tourism Zimbabwe. “Poetry is my soul’s language, pageantry is my platform. I’ve learned to let the two feed into each other,” she explained. She often performs at cultural events, using her poems to celebrate Zimbabwean heritage.
Her family and community have been pillars of support. “My family, friends, and community have always cheered me on. This journey isn’t mine alone; it’s a shared celebration,” she said.
Nkomo faces pressure to conform but stays true to her roots. She strives to reshape stereotypes about young women by showcasing culture authentically. “Whether through traditional fashion I design or storytelling in poetry, I present culture as a daily rhythm of identity.”
Her journey has not been without hurdles. She has dealt with travel delays, wardrobe malfunctions, and emotional lows. Her biggest challenge has been overcoming imposter syndrome. “Each stage I stepped on, I had to remind myself, ‘You earned this’.”
She admits to stumbling during walks but turns setbacks into motivation. “I trip on my dresses a lot, but I keep walking and smiling, hoping nobody notices. If I had a superpower, it would be Emotional Alchemy—turning pain into poetry, joy into action, and silence into song.”
Nkomo aims to represent Zimbabwe beyond pageantry through writing, advocacy, and entrepreneurship. She hopes to inspire young women nationwide to embrace their full potential. Her advice: “You don’t have to shrink to fit someone else’s version of greatness. You’re allowed to be poetic, powerful, sensitive, and smart. Believe your voice matters.”
Currently a media and journalism student, she advocates for mental health, cultural pride, and sustainable tourism. Nkomo is optimistic about Zimbabwe’s tourism and pageantry future. “I believe the future is bright, and I am excited to be part of it.”
Her blend of creativity, culture, and advocacy marks her reign as one focused on meaningful impact.
