DYNAMOS APPROACH DAUDA

HARARE – It has emerged that champions Dynamos
have approached ZPC Kariba regarding the signing
of defender Dennis Dauda – the country’s reigning
Player of the Year.
Club manager Richard Chihoro made contact with
ZPC officials and the players’ management team
yesterday to enquire about the possibility of
signing the highly-rated defender ahead of the
upcoming 2015 Castle Premiership season and the
Glamour Boys were given permission to talk to him.

The 26-year-old ZPC stopper last week missed a
wonderful opportunity to break into European
football after failing to impress during trials with
Azerbaijan top-flight club Gabala FC.
Dauda, who was crowned Soccer Star of the Year
last season, immediately flew back home last week
and has been linked with a move to big-spending
How Mine, who are believed to be ready to table an
offer for the defender.
Dauda is believed to be angling for a move away
from ZPC, who last season came so close to winning
the league title in their maiden top-flight season,
only to be edged out on the last day of the term
by Dynamos.

Despite How Mine’s market manoeuvres, the
interest from Dynamos is likely to excite Dauda’s
handlers, who will likely see the record 21-times
Zimbabwean champions as a better springboard for
an eventual move abroad.
Contents of Dauda’s contract with ZPC are
unclear, but he reportedly has one year left on the
deal.

A well-placed source however indicated that the
one-year contract signed at the beginning of last
season comes with an option to extend the deal for
another year, which means he could well walk out of
the club as a free agent.
Dynamos are battling to rebuild a new look team
following the recent departure of several keys
players who were part of Calisto Pasuwa’s dominant
squads of between 2011 and 2014.

Players who have recently left the club include
midfielders Devon Chafa and Tawanda Muparati,
who signed for How Mine in the pre-season
transfer window, alongside Thomas Magorimbo, who
has gone to ZPC Kariba.

Defender Themba Ndlovu moved to ambitious
Harare City while striker Washington Pakamisa has
reportedly joined Mozambican side Liga
Muculmana.
Strikers Rodreck Mutuma and Simba Sithole
alongside attacking midfielder Tafadzwa Rusike are
also facing the exit before the close of the
transfer window.

The asking fees by the players for the renewal of
their contracts has been the major reason behind
the impasse, or at least we are made to believe,
with the club insisting it cannot afford the
requested payments.
