Chandler Moore Set to Headline OMEMMA Tour in Harare

United States gospel singer, praise and worship leader, and songwriter Chandler David Moore is set to captivate gospel music lovers when he performs at Belgravia Sports Club in Harare on April 11.

Moore, who rose to prominence with his debut album Feelings in 2020 under Maverick City Music, has continued to gain widespread recognition through hit songs such as OMEMMA. His unique style of worship and powerful lyrical messages have made him a household name in contemporary gospel music.

Lyncolin Kapswara, the creative director for Events by GEC, expressed excitement about hosting the OMEMMA Tour, headlined by Moore.

“This marks Chandler’s maiden solo tour to Africa, following the massive success of his song OMEMMA, meaning ‘The God Who Does Good’ in Nigerian,” Kapswara stated.

He further highlighted that the event would feature an impressive lineup of supporting artistes, including Annatoria, Minister Michael Mahendere, Cleo Arie, Ezekiel Paul, Covenant Praise, and BIGSTAR Nash. The collective goal, according to Kapswara, is to ensure a dynamic and spiritually uplifting experience for all attendees.

Fans can expect “a powerful night of worship in a safe, family-friendly environment,” he added. Events by GEC aims to deliver top-quality gospel concerts that not only entertain but also inspire.

The organizers envision a future where gospel music continues to grow, driven by increased collaboration and knowledge exchange between international and local artists. Kapswara emphasized that this synergy would help promote Zimbabwean gospel music on a global scale.

Moore, born on March 21, 1995, in Charleston, South Carolina, is the son of Bishop Brian David Moore and Elder Jametta Chandler Moore. He grew up in a devout Christian home and began his musical journey as a background vocalist for renowned gospel artists Travis Greene and Tye Tribbett.

Over the years, Moore has collaborated with notable musicians, including Justin Bieber, Steffany Gretzinger, Dante Bowe, and Elevation Worship. His contributions to projects like Old Church Basement, Voice of God, and Where Do I Fit In have further cemented his reputation in the gospel music industry.

Kapswara assured fans that Moore is well-prepared to deliver a memorable performance, featuring both his older and newer songs. His anticipated setlist includes hits such as Promises, Jireh, Lead Me On, God Will Work It Out, I Thank God, Million Little Miracles, Jubilo, and OMEMMA, among others.

Local gospel artists slated to perform at the event have promised equally thrilling sets, with many of them being active praise and worship leaders in their respective churches.

Moore has often spoken about the role of gospel music in shaping and inspiring young people, noting that churches have played a crucial role in nurturing musicians. He has also reflected on the impact of Maverick City Music, which was launched in 2018 and brought together over 100 Christian artists and songwriters through 17 songwriting camps.

Maverick City Music, founded by Tony Brown and Jonathan Jay, was created to provide a space for underrepresented voices in gospel music, particularly Black artists and women. The initiative has since become one of the most influential gospel music collectives in recent years.

As a product of this movement, Moore has released several singles and showcased his instrumental prowess as a guitarist. His visit to Zimbabwe is expected to be a defining moment for local gospel enthusiasts, as they gather for a night of worship and celebration at Belgravia Sports Club.

Gates for the highly anticipated event will open at 5 PM, and families, students, and gospel lovers are encouraged to attend for an unforgettable night of music and faith.
