Danai Gurira Shines at Vogue World 2025 Hollywood

Hollywood actress and Zimbabwean star Danai Gurira captivated audiences at Vogue World 2025 Hollywood, held on October 26 at the Paramount Pictures lot in Los Angeles. Her commanding presence on the runway drew admiration across social media, with fans celebrating her walk and reigniting affection for her iconic role in Black Panther.

The event celebrated the union of fashion, film, and culture, with this year’s theme spotlighting Afrofuturism. One of the evening’s highlights was the sixth act, which honoured Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E Carter, celebrated for her groundbreaking work in Black Panther.

Gurira, joined by Teyana Taylor, walked the runway wearing the signature Dora Milaje battle armour, instantly evoking the power and pride of Wakanda. Their synchronised performance, accompanied by African drums and futuristic soundscapes, paid tribute to Carter’s visionary designs and the cultural influence of the film.

The duo’s appearance underscored how Black Panther continues to shape global conversations about African identity, representation, and fashion innovation. For Gurira, the moment symbolised a return to the character and themes that helped define her international success.

This marked Gurira’s debut at Vogue World, where she shared the spotlight with industry icons including Angela Bassett, who appeared in a regal purple gown designed by Carter, reminiscent of her role as Queen Ramonda.

The event blended cinematic heritage with haute couture, creating a powerful showcase of creativity and cultural pride. Gurira’s participation highlighted not only her acting excellence but also her continued role in advancing African-inspired artistry on the world stage.
