Dorcas Moyo Unveils 10th Album “Mugeri Tsvatu” with Star-Studded Launch

Renowned gospel singer Dorcas Moyo has released her 10th album, “Mugeri Tsvatu,” featuring 11 tracks. Known for her multi-genre collaborations, Moyo continues to partner with artists from both gospel and secular backgrounds.
In a recent interview with Weekender Entertainment, Moyo expressed excitement about sharing the album with her fans. The album will be officially launched tomorrow at the Mutare Showgrounds, promising a grand event with a lineup of celebrated performers.
The launch will feature iconic musicians such as Alick Macheso, Leonard Zhakata, Sulumani Chimbetu, Amai Olivia Charamba, Mathias Mhere, King David, Mbeu, and Fungisai Zvakavapano. Local talent will also be showcased, including Hosiah Chipanga, Carol Chidzikwe, Mai Mukanganwa, Tinashe Murigo, Blessing Shumba, and Ellen Anderson.
The album title, “Mugeri Tsvatu,” continues Moyo’s recurring theme on hair, explored in previous projects like “Bvudzi Rangu Ramera,” “Mhanza Haisekwi,” and “Mvere Dzabvepi.” The album includes the following tracks: “Kazevezeve,” “Denga Rina Mwari,” “Wodalitsika” featuring Dr Ethel Kamwendo Banda, “Munamato,” “Panofuurika,” “Mubatsiri Wangu” featuring Pastor Tinashe Murigo, “Wamunodisa,” “Jerusarema,” “Rumbidzo Yangu,” and “Messiah Ndichamuwona” featuring Nobert Mukombe and Pastor Vhengere.
Moyo described the upcoming launch as an extraordinary experience, stating it will provide entertainment for all ages. She highlighted her previous awards and nominations as motivation to continue producing quality work.
“The event this year is bigger and better. Moving to the Mutare Showgrounds allows more flexibility, and the entertainment will continue into the early hours of Sunday. It will be endless,” Moyo said.
The album’s title draws inspiration from 2 Samuel 10:4. The verse recounts how Hunun humiliated David’s messengers by cutting off their beards, only for their dignity to be restored over time. Moyo said, “In the end, they had the last laugh, and this is what ‘Mugeri Tsvatu’ symbolises.”
Moyo’s previous albums include “Mhanza Haisekwe” (2023), “Bvudzi Rangu Ramera” (2022), “Bvisai Marara” (2021), “PaMarah Tapfuura” (2020), and “Ndibatsirei Mwari” (2020). This latest release reinforces her position as a leading figure in Zimbabwean gospel music.
