Freeman HKD Set to Ignite Harare with Second Edition HKD Festival at Glamis Arena

Zimbabwean music heavyweight Freeman HKD is returning with the highly anticipated Second Edition HKD Festival, set to take place on October 25 at Glamis Arena in Harare. The event promises to deliver an explosive mix of music, culture, and unity, led by one of the most consistent voices in Zimdancehall.
Fresh from the success of chart-toppers like Tapinda Mustaera, Varidzi Vezvinhu, David and Goliath, Trophy, and Me vs Me, Freeman is raising the bar with an all-local lineup that brings together the best of Zimbabwean talent.
The stage will be graced by Killer T, Nutty O, Seh Calaz, Feli Nandi, Baba Harare, Voltz JT, and Culture Love. Rising stars including Bagga, Delroy Shewe, Atenda Chinx, and Nashi Zim will also perform. On the decks will be selectors Don Family, King Her, God Father Templeman, DJ Tanaman, Merciless Zim, and MC Gudo.
“This lineup is inspired by how these artistes have contributed to the genres they represent,” Freeman said. “It’s also about giving upcoming talent a bigger stage. Glamis Arena is neutral ground and easy for everyone to access. It’s the perfect venue for a national celebration.”
Born Emegy Sylvester Chizanga, Freeman has built a legacy through consistency and evolution. His discography reflects over a decade of hits, from his 2011 breakout single Tapinda Mustaera to his 2024 album Me vs Me. Each project has strengthened his connection with fans and cemented his reputation as a leader in the Zimdancehall movement.
The HKD Festival, first held in 2023, was designed as a platform to celebrate growth, collaboration, and the enduring love between Freeman, his fans, and the HKD family. The second edition builds on that success with a more inclusive approach, merging top performers, emerging artists, and community-driven initiatives.
Freeman said the festival’s goal extends beyond music. “This is not just a concert. It’s about culture, community, and giving back,” he explained. The organisers are partnering with local vendors, media houses, and creative entrepreneurs to ensure broader participation and exposure for smaller players in the industry.
Fans can expect a high-energy production combining live instrumentation from the HKD Band, dynamic stage effects, and top-tier sound engineering. The event offers a range of ticket options, from general access to VVIP, each promising a front-row experience to one of Zimbabwe’s biggest musical moments of the year.
Freeman expressed his excitement about sharing the stage with fellow artists, saying, “Performing with other great musicians is always special. The chemistry and energy make every performance unforgettable.”
The Second Edition HKD Festival is expected to attract fans from across Zimbabwe and the region, turning Glamis Arena into a hub of sound, dance, and national pride. For Freeman, it represents both reflection and renewal—a celebration of how far he and Zimbabwean music have come, and a promise of even greater things ahead.
