Khaya-Elihle Pardon Returns to Showbiz with Comedy Roast on March 20

Former model and instructor Khaya-Elihle Pardon is set to make a showbiz comeback with a comedy roast scheduled for March 20 at a local venue. The event marks his return after retiring from modelling last year, following two decades on the runway and catwalk.

A comedy roast involves poking fun at a guest of honour through jokes, anecdotes, and playful criticism, balanced with genuine praise and tributes. Khaya described the roast as a way to reflect on his experiences in the modelling industry while turning challenges into laughter.

“2025 has been a serious roller coaster, including me quitting modelling and selling some of my shares at Truth Models Academy due to a lot of conflicts, bullying, and betrayal, to mention a few. To reflect and share these experiences, I saw it better to tell them in a funny way, which is the roast,” Khaya said.

The roast panel will include associates and industry contacts who are familiar with Khaya’s journey. He confirmed that names of panellists will be revealed weekly, starting with Calvin Madula, Saimon Mambazo Phiri, and Mduduzi Mdlongwa.

All proceeds from gate takings and donations will benefit the Khayelihle Children’s Home. Khaya also plans to celebrate his birthday on March 21 by visiting Mpilo Hospital, where he was born, and sponsoring every child born on that day as a gesture of gratitude.

Khaya’s modelling career began on December 31, 2005, driven by a childhood passion for fashion and a keen eye for style. He trained at Fingers Modelling Academy and DA Modelling School in Cape Town. Throughout his career, he earned several titles, including Mr Pelandaba, Mr Bulawayo Junior, Mr Trade Fair, Top Model Zimbabwe, and first runner-up for Mr Africa Junior.

Beyond modelling, Khaya transitioned into directing and mentorship, leaving a significant impact on Zimbabwe’s pageantry scene. He has directed pageants such as Miss I Am Africa, Miss Nust, Miss Zimbabwe School of Mines, Miss Bulawayo, and Miss Bulawayo Polytechnic, as well as international competitions including Miss Teen Universe Zimbabwe, Miss Teen of the Universe, and Miss Teen World.

Khaya also played a key role in reviving Miss Universe Zimbabwe and introduced the first model awards in Bulawayo through the Bulawayo Models Awards, under the Bulawayo Models Association.

As the roast approaches, Khaya promises a blend of humour and storytelling, sharing his life experiences with a panel of people who know him well. The event is expected to highlight both his challenges and triumphs while raising funds for a meaningful cause.
