Mzoe 7 Set to Make History with First Theatrical Music Show at Bulawayo Theatre

Afro-Pop sensation Mzoe 7, born Mzobanzi Mlauzi, is set to redefine Zimbabwe’s live music scene with his first one-man show scheduled for 11 October at the Bulawayo Theatre. Known for his versatility and innovation, Mzoe 7 promises a concert experience unlike any other in the country.

“This is not your usual music concert. I chose to do it in a theatre because it’s a theatrical concert where music meets theatre. We are giving people music with complementary acting infused with dance. And no, this is not a musical drama, it’s a theatrical music concert,” Mzoe 7 explained.

Unlike open-air or club performances, the show will offer audiences a more immersive appreciation of art and music. Mzoe 7 aims to elevate the local entertainment scene by blending live music with theatrical elements, creating a performance that engages both the ear and the eye.

“Through this show, I am driving a new understanding and appreciation of art to people. No one has ever done this here. People are used to musical plays, but this will open minds to appreciate art in its diversity,” he said.

The musician also highlighted his ambition to break into the festival market, showing that he has moved beyond club performances. “This one-man show will prove to the world that I am ready for festival concerts. People will see that there is more talent in me. We are making this show family-friendly and ensuring everyone is comfortable,” Mzoe 7 said.

To enhance the experience, attendees will get a full red carpet treatment. “Everyone who is coming to the show will get an opportunity to walk down the red carpet and take pictures, making them feel important. Our red carpet isn’t reserved for a select few,” he added.

On a poignant note, Mzoe 7 revealed that he had planned to perform a song with the late radio personality Babongile Sikhonjwa but will now perform it solo or find another collaborator. “There’s a song I was supposed to perform with Babongile. Sadly, I will either look for someone else or do it by myself,” he said.

This one-man theatrical music show promises to be a landmark event in Zimbabwe’s entertainment calendar, merging music, dance, and acting in a format that is new to local audiences. Tickets are expected to sell fast as Mzoe 7 aims to set a new standard for live performances in the country.
