Rebecca Manford Uses Gospel Music to Fight Drug Abuse and Inspire Change

Gospel musician Rebecca Manford has positioned herself as a leading voice in the fight against drug and substance abuse, using her music as a tool for social intervention. Beyond worship, her songs aim to save lives, restore broken futures, and reach communities where policies and warnings often fall short.
“Drug abuse has become one of the biggest threats to our communities and our nation,” Manford said. “Every day we see young people with so much potential throwing their lives away. Families are being broken, and futures are being stolen. I felt a deep responsibility to use my voice and my platform to support the fight against drugs.”
Her message aligns with ongoing government campaigns targeting youth drug abuse. Manford emphasizes that music can communicate warnings, hope, and guidance in ways formal programs cannot. “Music has the power to heal, to warn, to uplift and to open eyes,” she said. “Sometimes conversations fail, but a song can reach the heart instantly. If my music can inspire even one person to walk away from drugs, seek help or save someone else, then it has done its job.”
Manford’s musical journey began in school and church, performing in youth bands where her voice and passion were nurtured. Over the years, she has fused her faith with social responsibility, creating gospel music that also addresses pressing societal issues. Her latest project, Say No, directly confronts drug abuse, drawing on real-life experiences she witnesses in communities.
“Almost everyone knows someone who had a promising life and lost it because of drugs,” Manford said. “Drug abuse is destroying families and robbing young people of their future — the very future that should be full of dreams, creativity and purpose.” The song delivers a dual message: a warning and a call to hope. Manford describes it as a call to action for young people, families, and community leaders alike.
Beyond music, Manford is a high achiever in business. She is a chartered accountant, CEO of a multi-million-dollar company in the tobacco sector, an international public speaker, and a multi-award-winning business leader. She credits discipline, focus, and hard work for her ability to balance a demanding career with her music.
“I put my all into everything I do,” she said. “I believe strongly in productivity and putting in the work. Being busy does not overwhelm me — it energises me.” Looking ahead, Manford plans to release more music, including a forthcoming album, while maintaining her focus on meaningful projects.
“I do not release music just to stay relevant,” she said. “I release it when it is meaningful and ready. But people should expect more — we have been working hard, and there is so much more to come.” Through her latest projects, Rebecca Manford demonstrates that gospel music can be more than worship. It can be a catalyst for social change, inspiring individuals to make better choices, protect their futures, and contribute to healthier, stronger communities.
