Seh Calaz And Brother Linford Mumanyi Set For US$5,000 Music Showdown In August

Mbare-bred Zimdancehall star Seh Calaz, real name Tawanda Mumanyi, is gearing up for a highly anticipated musical showdown against his younger brother, Linford Mumanyi, a gospel musician, in a unique family contest scheduled for August.

The winner of the event will walk away with a cash prize of US$5,000, adding excitement to what is already being dubbed a genre-defying musical affair. The announcement was made by Bishop Sydney Mabhiza, the founder and leader of the St John Apostolic Church of the Whole World, during a recent three-day fasting and prayer event in Mutoko.

“Let me announce that sooner than later, we will organise a musical showdown between Seh Calaz and his brother, Linford Mumanyi, with the winner walking away with over US$5,000,” Mabhiza declared before thousands of congregants. “It will be a musical family affair as the Mumanyi brothers will showcase their talents and the audience will judge for us to identify the victor.”

Bishop Mabhiza, who has long been an advocate for uniting people through music, added a personal directive to Linford: “This is my assignment to you Linford to go, engage and extend an invitation to your brother Seh Calaz for this event in August.”

Linford, known for his humble demeanour and spiritually uplifting gospel tracks, confirmed his readiness for the contest and welcomed the idea of going head-to-head with his elder brother. “I am ready and will engage my brother for this event. Though we are into different musical genres, I am humbled to share the stage with him during that contest and after all, the US$5,000 cash prize remains within the family,” he said.

The upcoming face-off will coincide with the St John Apostolic Church of the Whole World’s 40th anniversary celebrations set to take place in Mhondoro. It’s expected to draw massive crowds, not only from Zimbabwe but from international branches of the church as well.

Interestingly, this won’t be the first time Seh Calaz has linked up with the apostolic sect. He previously collaborated with gospel star and church ambassador Mambo Dhuterere on the track Reurura, blending Zimdancehall with spiritually charged lyrics.

As anticipation builds, fans of both gospel and Zimdancehall music are eager to see how the brothers will balance their familial bond with fierce stage presence. With both artists bringing their unique flair and fan bases, the event is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about musical clashes of the year.
