Zimbabwean Afro-pop and R&B sensation Shashl is gearing up to release her much-anticipated album The First Quarter with a live launch event scheduled for June 21, 2025, at the 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare. This milestone marks a significant chapter in the career of Ashleigh Moyo, popularly known as Shashl, who has steadily risen to prominence as one of Zimbabwe’s most influential musical talents.

Expressing her excitement about the album release, Shashl shared, “I’m excited to announce that I’ll be releasing my album The First Quarter on June 21 at 7 Arts Theatre. This project means a lot to me.” The album follows the successful reception of her 2024 extended play Butterflies and features recent singles that highlight her evolving sound.

Among the standout tracks is Softly, a soulful number produced by Tamuka and Stubborn Beats, which explores themes of love and resilience. The music video for Softly was filmed in Tanzania and directed by Kenny, adding a vibrant visual element to the heartfelt song.

Shashl’s music career is marked by impressive collaborations that have expanded her fan base and demonstrated her versatility across genres. She notably featured on Ghetto Buddies alongside Zimbabwean rapper Holy Ten, a chart-topping hit, and joined forces with Nutty O on the romantic track Loving You. These partnerships have earned her critical acclaim for her vocal range and ability to blend effortlessly into hip-hop, dancehall, and Afro-pop beats.

In a groundbreaking achievement, Shashl became the first female Zimbabwean artist to sign with Universal Music Africa, a milestone that has propelled her presence onto the continental music stage and opened doors to a broader audience.

Since her debut single No More in 2017, Shashl has built an impressive catalogue of hits including Tender, Blow It in the Wind, and Sorry. The First Quarter album launch promises to showcase new material that reflects her artistic growth and commitment to delivering fresh, soulful music.

The June 21 event at 7 Arts Theatre is expected to draw fans, fellow musicians, and key industry players eager to witness live performances from the new project. As Shashl continues to push boundaries in Zimbabwe’s music scene, The First Quarter is set to solidify her status as a leading voice in Afro-pop and R&B.

For music lovers across Zimbabwe and beyond, Shashl’s album launch is a must-attend event, promising an unforgettable night filled with captivating performances and fresh sounds from one of the country’s brightest stars.
