Sulumani Chimbetu Promises High-Energy Shows and Fresh Music in 2026

Popular Dendera musician, producer, and Orchestra Dendera Kings frontman Sulumani Chimbetu is set to deliver a year of electrifying performances in 2026. Known for shows that leave audiences breathless and smiling, Sulu enters the new season focused, prolific, and determined to raise the bar for live entertainment in Zimbabwe.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, Chimbetu said his creative engine is running at full throttle. His 14-track album Tsapo, released last year, continues to enjoy strong rotation, while work on his 15th studio project is underway, with a release planned later in 2026. For fans, this means a packed set list with reimagined arrangements that keep familiar songs feeling fresh and exciting.

“The gig at The Grub on January 30 is going to be our first for this season before Sherwood Golf Club on January 31,” he said. “I urge music lovers to come in their numbers and enjoy our evergreen music with us. We shall be belting hit after hit from our rich catalogue and promise our patrons value for their hard-earned money.”

Chimbetu’s music catalogue spans decades, with hits such as Sean Timba (feat Jah Prayzah) from the album Syllabus and Hartley from Tsapo. His discography also includes albums like Ndomusiya Nani (2007), Reverse Deal (2008), Non Stop (2010), Syllabus (2012), Syllabus DVD Album (2014), Gunship (2014), Jamboree (2016), and Entanglement (2020), which continue to receive extensive airplay online and on traditional media platforms.

Born in Chegutu and raised in a legendary musical lineage, Sulu’s journey combines early schooling, discipline from his Air Force of Zimbabwe service, and full immersion into Orchestra Dendera Kings after joining in 2004. Following the passing of his father, Simon Chimbetu, in 2005, he assumed leadership of the band, blending reverence for tradition with a drive for innovation.

Chimbetu believes confidence is earned and reinforced through preparation, training, and technology. Improved access to music education, affordable recording technology, and professional-grade instruments have elevated Zimbabwean production quality. For Sulu, these tools amplify his experience and performance instincts, resulting in music that resonates harder, travels further, and delivers unforgettable stage shows.

As 2026 unfolds, Chimbetu promises high-octane performances, timeless songs, and proof that when education meets equipment, Zimbabwean music thrives. His shows draw audiences across generations, showing how heritage adapts while maintaining excellence. With disciplined touring, tight bands, and energetic performances, Sulumani Chimbetu ensures that Dendera music continues to energize dance floors and affirm its national legacy.
